This photo eye is primarily used for safety. The wired photo eye is great for reliability. The sender and receiver system provides the least amount of interference from sun reflections, rain, fog, etc. You have to run wire under the driveway but once it is done this is the most stable way to set up a safety system for your gate opener. The small attractive "egg" shaped eyes are discrete and attractive - which both get mounted on small posts in the ground. Then arrange them up to 30' away on the opposite side of the driveway and line up the transmitter and receiver. If any object breaks the beam it will get a reaction out of the gate opener.
